The Community Foundation of Will County gathered community leaders to award 11 grants in the priority areas of health, education, human services, and the arts at the fall reception.

Through the many donors who participated $93,324 in grants were awarded. The non-profit organizations who received these funds will provide transportation for seniors, therapeutic alternatives for hospice patients, prevention programs for youth, and adult education for underserved populations, among other services for residents of Will County.

The Chicago Community Trust names new CEO

Chicago Community TrustThe Chicago Community Trust today announced the selection of Dr. Helene Gayle, CEO of the McKinsey Social Initiative, as its new CEO, succeeding Terry Mazany, who will step down at the end of September. Gayle will become just the seventh leader in the 102-year history of the community foundation.

“Helene brings an incredible depth of experience with more than 30 years working to address some of society’s most pressing challenges,” said Michael W. Ferro Jr., chairman of the Trust’s Executive Committee. “I am convinced that with her proven leadership and vision, Helene will bring about innovative, inspiring solutions to the serious challenges confronting Chicago. I’m excited to see her get to work in elevating the Trust and building on Terry’s leadership, which has shaped this organization into a dynamic force that creates real and lasting change.”

michael TrenchMichael Trench joins the Will County Community Foundation
as Executive Director

JOLIET(April 14, 2011) - The Will County Community Foundation, our region’s community foundation, has welcomed Michael Trench as Executive Director in January. Trench brings over 25 years of diverse and varied experience in the nonprofit sector, including work as a parish pastor, in financial service sales, and higher education fundraising.

Foundation Awards $90,221 in Grants to Eleven Area Nonprofits

The Community Foundation of Will County awarded Community Partner Grants in the priority areas of health, education, human services and the arts at the fall reception. “For the second year, we invited those who have Donor Advised Funds with us to help fund grants. Through their generosity we are able to increase our total impact by over 65%, adding over $35,000 of their support to our $55,000, for total grants awarded of $90,221.” noted Grant Committee Chair, Kathy Cawley.” And for the first time, we are excited to have the DuPage Medical Group as a community partner even though they don’t have a fund with us, but with our sister Foundation in DuPage County.”
