Some Exciting News From the CFWC
As you know, the Community Foundation of Will County was established in 2006 by the Chicago Community Trust to serve the residents and non-profit organizations of Will County. Our Foundation was the third to be created; they had already established Community Foundations in McHenry and Lake County. Throughout the process, the intention of the CCT was to one day assist all of the Foundations in becoming independent, stand-alone organizations. And their plan has been successful; in the last three years, both McHenry and Lake County Community Foundations have separated from the Trust and are now successful independent organizations.
And now, because of the support of friends like you who believe in the mission of the CFWC, we are in the excellent position to do the same. To date, more than $1.5 million has been donated to organizations throughout Will County. This past year, seven organizations received more than $87,000 in support through our annual Grant Cycle, and three organizations were the recipients of over $220,000 in Workforce Development Grants, made possible by a $500,000 donation to the Foundation from Amazon. Our investments currently stand at almost $9 million, a testament to our Board of Directors’ oversight and commitment to the future.
As such, we’ve been working with the CCT on our final separation for the past year to become an independent Foundation, and the process is going very well. We are now an independent organization as of September 30, 2023.
We are excited and hopeful as we enter this new phase of growth for our Foundation, and we look forward to working together with you to connect people who care, to causes that matter.
